What is the Open Futures Scholarship for Black Students?

The Open Futures Scholarship for Black Students is scheduled to make its debut during the academic year 2022–2023, and it will offer students who have recently moved to the United Kingdom and who identify themselves as Black the opportunity to be awarded a full scholarship to cover all of their educational costs.

During the academic year 2022–2023, there will be a total of fifty different scholarships available. The whole cost of tuition for any undergraduate credit-bearing modules and qualifications offered by the OU will be covered by a scholarship, up to a maximum of 120 credits during each seasonal academic year and 360 credits in total, regardless of how many credits are obtained.

If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will also be eligible to receive a one-time study costs grant in the amount of £500 to assist you with the costs that are associated with getting ready to study with the Open University. This grant is intended to help defray the costs that are associated with getting ready to study with the Open University. The purchase of a laptop computer, the acquisition of study materials, and the configuration of internet connection may all be included in these expenditures.

Scholarship Deadline:

For the 2022-2023 school year, the Open Futures Scholarship is available, and applications are already being accepted. During the 2022–2023 school year, the Open Futures Scholarship for Black Students was introduced, providing a chance for international students who identify as Black and are new to the United Kingdom to receive financial support for their undergraduate or graduate studies.

Fifty separate scholarships will be offered throughout the 2022-2023 school year. A scholarship will pay for a student's whole undergraduate education at the OU, up to a maximum of 360 credits throughout the course of their studies (120 credits every seasonal academic year).

A one-time study expenses grant of £500 will be awarded to scholarship recipients to help with the costs of preparing to enroll in the Open University. Obtaining an Open University education might be expensive, but this award is meant to assist with those expenditures. These costs could include things like buying a laptop computer, stocking up on books and other study aids, and setting up an internet connection.

Requirements:

  • Have an annual family income of less than £25,000 or get an appropriate benefit.
  • Be a UK resident with the ability to pay a UK charge
  • lack the credentials to enter higher education
  • Spend the 2022–2023 academic year as a first-time student at The Open University.
  • Intent on enrolling in a 2022-23 academic year undergraduate degree or module at OU
  • Take at least 30 credits every year in school (25 percent)
  • You must be of one of the following ethnicities to apply if you identify as a person of African descent:
  1. African-Caribbean and Black
  2. Black and White Caribbean Admixture
  3. Intermingled racial origins (White, African-American, and other) (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)
